Race to Zero (RtZ)
A United Nations backed global campaign to take rigorous and immediate action to achieve net zero emissions by 2050
Race to Zero is a United Nations backed global campaign. It rallies non-state actors (companies, cities, educational/financial/health care institutions etc) to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. Members who join RtZ commit to reducing their emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals and provide transparent goals and targets.
Health Care Without Harm has been selected as the official health care partener of RtZ. Health institutions wishing to participate in RtZ can do so by joining the Health Care Climate Challenge. Globally, 50 health care institutions (>14,000 hospitals) in 21 countries have joined RtZ. From India, 4 H.E.L.P hospitals, Ganderbal District Hospital, Kashmir, and Directorate of Health Services, Kerala have joined RtZ.
Joining Race to Zero (RtZ)
Healthcare institutions that wish to join the Race to Zero campaign will have to do so by joining the HCCC. They will receive a membership to the Indian H.E.L.P network and by extension the GGHH network (if not already a member).
Race to Zero members will also receive assistance (tools, resources and guidance) in reducing their carbon footprint and achieving the RtZ goals by the H.E.L.P team.
