CONsortium for Climate and Health (CONCH)
CONCH will provide a platform for us to jointly work, learn and build our capacities
The South East Asia region with 11 countries hosts a diverse profile of regional climate vulnerabilities with associated disease burden. We are witness to an increasing frequency of acute climate events- heatwaves, droughts, floods, storms, cyclones, deteriorating air quality, impacts on agricultural productivity that have direct and indirect consequences on food and nutrition security and impacts on both physical and mental health of impacted communities. The myriad consequences of a changing climate necessitate a conscious, coherent and collective response from the health and allied sectors.
Thus, it is proposed to launch a CONsortium for Climate and Health (CONCH) that will provide a platform for us to jointly work, learn and build our capacities to address climate change and health through research, training, remediation, communications and sharing of best practices for mitigation and adaptation.
